Resettlement Volunteers

We're looking for volunteers to support people moving into their new homes under our CRIAS Service. Our focus to make people more independent and able to sustain their tenancies and the work starts from day they sign their tenancy agreement From helping to set up utilities through to registering with their local GP, you will use your life experiences to help people grow into independent living in the best possible circumstances, This work is very important and enables people to remain in accommodation, but we have to be careful not to make them reliant on our support. This involves encouraging people to make their own decisions, phone calls and visits to local offices.  CRIAS users are from all walks of life and age ranges, making this an extremely varied and interesting volunteering role for people with plenty of life experience and some time on their hands. It will also provide excellent experience for anyone seeking a career in housing support.

The Croydon Rent in Advance Scheme is a Croydon Council scheme managed by CAYSH and provides and essential stepping stone for the economically disadvantaged. We aim to provide the very best in all forms of housing support and assistance; and to ensure you are able to support our mission you can expect full training and support - as part of the recruitment of resettlement volunteers we have an established a tailored training and orientation program.

The role is unpaid, but in addition to full training and supervision you will receive out of pocket expenses and have access to CAYSH's range of non-salary benefits including our employee assistance programme, access to IT and office systems and the confidence of knowing that you are supporting the work of one of South London's leading housing charities. All volunteers have access to the staff training program and good practice review days.

To apply to become a Resettlement Volunteer with CAYSH you need to:

  • have some insight in to your own experiences and be able to draw on this to support your client;

  • be non-judgemental and able to respect a person's right to choose how they live their life;
