Living with CAYSH

  • good quality accommodation
  • well-trained and motivated staff to provide advice and support

You can also expect to:

  • be listened to and have your views taken seriously
  • be able to influence decisions concerning you and to participate actively in matters concerning your accommodation
  • have your privacy respected (staff will not enter their rooms without at least 24 hours written notice except in an emergency)
  • have your cultural or religious differences respected and provided for (eg. separate fridges)
  • be signposted to culturally appropriate activities
  • be informed about local medical and central facilities, including enrolling with a local doctor/GP.
  • be helped with suitable education, training or employment, or directed to other organisations who can helped to provide this.
  • develop independent living skills:
    • manage your finances
    • look after yourself
    • maintain a healthy lifestyle.
    • manage your future tenancy in the private sector

In return, here is what we expect from you:

Talk to us

  • Attend regular meetings with your support worker to discuss your situation.
  • It’s important to talk about why you became homeless, even if this might bring back painful memories.
  • Let the support worker know what you are doing and where you are going
  • Come to house meetings to talk about how the project is run

Use your time well

  • Make good use of your time – either studying, training or working
  • Do your share of the chores around the house
  • Help with the safe running of the project
  • Look after your friends and other tenants in the project
  • Be a good neighbour – both in the project and the local neighbourhood

Money matters

  • Pay your way – pay your rent and service charges on time.

  • Apply for benefits – our support worker can help with this
  • Manage your own money
