Supported Housing
CAYSH has provided supported housing for young people in the Croydon area since 1980. We support young people aged between 16 and 25 by providing safe and secure housing in shared and self-contained accommodation. CAYSH helps them to maximise their skills and to move them a step closer to independence.
Why do they need support? The young people referred to CAYSH may:
- have experienced an abusive relationship
- be pregnant
- be an ex-offender
- need emotional support to develop self-esteem
- need skills to live independently
- want to improve their education or employment opportunities
What support do they receive? Each tenant works with their local housing officer. Through a structured keywork, care plan and group training, CAYSH will typically work with each young person for one to two years. When their move on to their own tenancies, CAYSH continues to provide resettlement support.
Projects: CAYSH provides shared and self-contained accommodation, including schemes for care leavers and young women. The projects include accommodation for ex-offenders, young pregnant women and disabled young people in a self-contained fully adapted project
The accommodation is managed by CAYSH on behalf of local housing associations:
Referral procedures: CAYSH does not accept self-referrals. Young people should be referred from their existing housing providers or an advice service eg. HAP<25 in Croydon.
