STOP in Sutton

Sutton Time Out Project logo

If you are a 16 or 17 year old in Sutton and are homeless, the first thing you should do is contact Sutton Council, who have a short stay accommodation centre called the Sutton Time Out Project where you can stop, take some time, and plan your future.

CAYSH runs STOP on Sutton Council's behalf. The project is for 16 and 17 year olds who can't stay at home. We manage a property for you to stay in where you can begin to deal with the problems that meant leaving home in the first place. CAYSH staff will respect your views and listen to your concerns - this project is about finding what's best for you.

This is a short term project and does not have the same freedoms that you would have if you were living on your own. It is however a safe place to stop, and to plan your next move. STOP is all about taking this chance to move forward your way, the right way so for your own sake you will want to keep staff informed of your whereabouts. There's a curfew that is for everybody's security and and generally we want to maintain a peaceful place for you to plan your future. More details can be found in the Guide for STOP residents.

Whilst here you will be able to either sort out the reasons for you needing to leave home in such a way that you can return home, or if not we will help you find longer term accommodation. We want to respect your wishes first and foremost. If possible, we will also involve your family.

STOP is a short term accommodation based project. You will stay here for up to 12 weeks in one of the rooms, which will be yours alone and you can lock. As a whole, the accommodation is mixed sex and you may have to share bathrooms and toilets with others staying here. There is a shared kitchen where staff will help you with day to day stuff like cooking and washing. The staff are here to help you develop skills for independent living so make the most of them if you come to STOP.
